Protest against 10/50 code outside NSW Environment Minster’s office

Many met outside Rob Stokes, NSW Minster for the Environment to ask for a moratorium on the 10/50 code.

The code is supposed to help people protect their homes against bush fire. But it is based on self assessment and many significant trees are being removed for other reasons e.g. to improve views, prepare for a development application, get rid of annoying leaves.

Many community groups believe that this one-size-fits-all approach is wrong for suburban areas such as ours, where Pittwater Council and the Rural Fire Service already manage bushfire very well.

Have your say NOW before Friday 14 November 2014.
